PHISHING

A trick attack which consists of abusing the Internet user's credulity. The victim receives an email containing the graphic charter of a well-known company or administration (bank, telephone operator, PayPal, Taxes, Family Allowance Fund, etc.). The objective is to attract the Internet user to a website using all kinds of reasons to which they are particularly sensitive (security, fraudulent use, reimbursement, etc.)

By clicking on the link proposed in the email, the Internet user is connected to a site with the same graphics which is often a perfect copy of the original. He is invited to provide confidential information (access codes, bank card number, etc.) without realizing the fraud.

Hackers thus easily recover these banking codes or data in order to carry out operations for their own profit.

The good reflexes:
– Use the anti-phishing functions of recent browsers and anti-viruses.
– Don't be fooled by the address of the sender of a message (From:), it's easy to put what you want there.
– Avoid following links in emails. Prefer, when possible, to enter the address of the site in your browser or use a “favorite”.
– Make sure when you are connected or redirected to our site that you are connected to https and that the URL ends with “Mecacyl.com/”
